Technology Service

Instructional Technology Support (ITS) provides support and resources for teaching with technology. ITS provides training courses, tutorials, documentation and group or one-on-one guidance. Note that ITS is your contact for any questions related to classroom projectors, computers or other teaching-related technology. The five departments within ITS are administrative support, classroom technologies, educational technology center, instructional design and academic computing. (

ITS also provides support for TRACS which is Texas State’s class management software. You’ll need to know about TRACS to manage grades and communicate with students about class activities and assignments.

The Information Technology Assistance Center (ITAC) supports email, wired and wireless networks, and campus telephones. ITAC also provides software for university-related work and at a discount for personal purchase. The ITAC technologies you might use most often include: Bobcat Mail (campus e-mail system), Online Toolkit (place to do things like changing passwords), SAP Portal (a multifunction system where faculty members can view earnings statements and benefits plans), and Banner (where grades are submitted, rosters are posted and student academic records are housed and managed.)
