We are proud that Texas Sate University joined the Sun Belt Conference in May of 2012. We are motivated. As fans, "we're gonna cheer for our team today until the whole world knows our name." Our position in the new conference will help us do that, as we have opportunities for bowl games and ESPN coverage.

The new Performing Arts Center opened in Spring 2014 that has a 397-seat theater and a 312-seat recital hall that will serve us and the surrounding communities.

The Department of Campus Recreation

Keep active during your time at Texas State University. Go for a swim or lift some weights. Play disc golf. Go mountain bike climbing or hike some trails.

The Department of Campus Recreation runs the Texas State University recreation facilities. They focus on physical fitness as well as programming to enhance social, psychological, and physiological development. Although they focus on students first, faculty and the community can use many Campus Recreation programs and facilities. They offer intramural sports, sport clubs, outdoor recreation, and golf. They provide outdoor programs such as hiking and kayaking. They also rent equipment and supplies.

Faculty and Staff Total Wellness Program

The Total Wellness program is designed to help faculty and staff members meet their health, weight, fitness, and athletic goals. They offer group classes and personal training. They can work with you on a plan for your goals. They often offer special programs for children, teenagers, and adults. You do not have to be in good shape to join.

Child Development Center

Texas State University Child Development Center provides information about schools and programs for children. It also has a non-profit, on campus laboratory childcare program affiliated with the Family and Consumer Science Department. For childcare, there is often a waiting list, so contact them as soon as you think you might need services.

The Department of Family and Protective Services also provides assistance in searching for a care taker as well as other informative child care resources.

Bobcat Balance is your comprehensive Work Life/Employee Assistance Program that offers free counseling sessions for you and your dependents, help with locating child and elder care resources as well as  legal, financial, wellness resources and more. This is an excellent service for the faculty and staff.
