AVP-Research and Federal Relations
AVP-Research and Federal Relations supports and promotes scholarship and shared responsibility, compliance, and integrity. AVPR helps faculty members in their research, encourages interdisciplinary activities, and provides matching funds to support new programs and initiatives.
Sponsored Programs (OSP) will most likely be the first AVPR office you will use. All applications for externally funded research, public service, instruction, training, and other projects must go through OSP. It is the central source of information for major government agencies, foundations, and corporations that support research and other sponsored programs.
OSP helps find, write, and apply for grants and foundation funds. They help form conceptual development through implementation of funded projects. They oversee compliance with laws, regulations, and contracts.
Research Compliance (ORC) oversees scholarly and research involving humans, animals, rDNA, biosafety, export controls, and investigator conflict of interest. These responsibilities include administrative support of the Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and the Institutional Biosafety Committee. The site contains important information and required training for those submitting research proposals.
Once you've worked with the offices, and designed your activity, you can submit your proposal to the Institutional Review Board for review. This process is completed online: IRB Online Application for All Applications.
AVPR offers a Research Enhancement Program, a competitive internal source of funding for a specific research project. The REP Guidelines detail guidelines, the application, the review process, and post award guidlines. Faculty members are usually more successful if they work with their department representative.
